Question by Red Fox Ace: How or why do Christians justify divorce today (among believers)?
If God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16,) then how do you explain the high rate of divorce among Christian believers (which, I believe, is no less than the same rate of divorce among unbelievers?)

“Irreconcilable differences” is the justification.

I don’t live their lives but I know my marriage is strong and we won’t ever divorce because it’s a promise we’ve made to each other and to God.

I agree. I think that in honor of christians, we should pass a law that makes it illegal for christians to divorce, for any reason, in order to stop them from sinning. Atheists should be allowed to divorce, since we cannot sin. As well, christians should not be allowed to get abortions, and so on, whereas atheists should. Just to please the christians, this seems a fair compromise to me.

First I believe the divorce rate is 3 to 5 times lower than most people think. It’s certain people who can’t handle a relationship getting married 3 to 5 times. Second adultery is the only justification. When you join in marriage two become one, not 3 or 4 or more. Adultery changes the coming together as one and redefines the marriage.
